Well sure, it looks similar to Mac or Windows, but it's still Linux...
Looks aren't the only thing that have improved with this distro of Linux; everything from multi-core compatibility to enhanced desktop effects have been completely revamped! Wine or "Windows Emulator" can run more windows programs than ever--as if you'll even need them. The new Open Office 3.1 is compatible with Mac, Windows, Sun and other Unix/Linux systems. Karmic Koala also offers somewhat of a "Time Machine" as well. The new backup utilities (yes multiple) are faster and more robust than ever.
The only drawbacks I find with this operating system is its support for MIDI keyboards (like the ones for making music, not typing). Luckily, I have Reason 4 on Windows to boot to if I want to make some music.
3D gaming has always been a drawback for Linux users, like myself. And since the latest release of Wine, there have been quite a few successful runs of the Steam client (a gaming application/hub). Many have claimed that once you figure out your graphics card settings thoroughly, you can run just about any Windows game.
Try it out for yourself: Ubuntu Download Page (http://www.ubuntu.com/GetUbuntu/download)
:D You may be surprised by how quickly and easily it installs (with no command line).
