My professor who worked as a junior executive in Hollywood for years recommended me to an internship where he knows someone who works there. It's The Gersh Agency (TGA). Each agency doesn't directly compete with one another, it's just a matter of where they represent clients. WME is out of NYC with a lot of independent film clients. CCA in LA has actors and athletes. UTA jumped on digital media. ICM is international talent. PTA is music and actors.
TGA is big for their comedians and writers. One of those comedians... Brian Regan!! I wrote out an essay as to 'why I deserve this internship'. My professor loved it, and sent it over right away without any corrections in mind. Let's hope they share his enthusiasm! I'll live in a hole in the wall, but I'll have an excellent exposure to Talent Agents in LA. The kind of people who know the industry from a standpoint of getting in.
