Exactly what it says on the tin.

The next Twisted Metal game, which will be on the PS3, Has all but been announced with the clues in Twisted Metal:Head-On/Extra Twisted Edition, And the leaked [but censored] Letter to David Jaffe from Sony for a "Car combat game". Which have been removed from all corners of the internet at some point.
Also "Twisted Metal" is among the list of supposedly leaked games that will be showcased at E3. I hope its officially announced then so I can stop all this speculating.

I love the Twisted Metal series! I'm looking forward to this release, especially for the PS3. It's one of those classic games that feel their best when played using a controller.

I can remember playing it on the older Playstations for solid days at a time! ...and when I got it on PSP.

Its looking pretty massive, the graphics don't look the best but well its still got a year till release. you can find the HD trailer on the PSN and at least 1 online gameplay vid on Youtube thats different from the trailer.

I found a gameplay video on the E3 website that shows pretty much everything. It's a long one. It looks a lot like the previous releases, except with much better environment graphics, lighting and sound. Still as fast-paced, but I'm kind of bummed about how much it appears they have increased gravity. They made it almost too realistic; I like the old-time gravity that gets you atop a building by just hitting a curb the right way!

Damn we like these games for all the same reasons, at least you can destroy people with a goddamn heli and pilot SWEET TOOTH MECHA!

It seems they finally got scale right for once, the motorcycles aren't the size of houses anymore. I'm curious those gigantic green and purple mecha looking things seen in the sky, They look like they might have something to do with the factions but I can't really tell from what I've seen so far.
I can't wait to destroy you in this next year.

Some goodness from Jaffe himself, proof the game is still Prealpha and nowhere near beta yet.
So those people complaining about the graphics can shut the hell up as they're literally still working on them.
This info makes me happy, All they've shown so far is the just the old stuff!

And apparently that gameplay is from an older version of the game.

Closed doors demo goodness, confirms the return of classic deathmatch as well as several characters new and old.
Jaffes hands of nuke demo is interesting too.

In the single player story mode, the Player takes the role of one of three playable characters and follows their story through several levels, using any of 16 playable Vehicles with different boss encounters for each character.

There is some kind of "Garage" feature that the team has mentioned off hand but its details are as of yet currently unknown.

Playable Characters-
Needles Kane(best known as Sweet Tooth): The serial killer and face of Twisted Metal.

Doll Face(A previous driver of Darkside): Wears a mask on her face to cover up what she perceives as a horribly ruined face.(it isn't)

Mr Grimm: A new incarnation of the classic character, This time some kind of Haitian voodoo practitioner who wears skull shaped face paint.

Known Unplayable Characters-

The Preacher: introduced in Black, He now seems crazier than ever and controls a faction of holy men. He is out to get tournament runner Calypso.

Calypso: Founder of Twisted Metal who promises to give a single wish to anyone who wins the Tournament. not much is known about this incarnation of the character other than the fact that he looks like the TM2 version the most.

Multiplayer Factions

The Clowns: Followers of Needles Kane.

The Dolls: Followers of Doll Face.

The Skulls: Followers of Mr Grimm.

The Holy Men: Followers of The Preacher, Playable unlike Preacher.

Due to negative fan response toward the lack of many classic characters appearing in story mode, Jaffe has decided to try and include favorites like Axel if they have the time.
They are very open to suggestions and Jaffe wants fans to tell him their opinions on twitter.

They are apparently avoiding realistic physics in favor of more unrealistic physics like that of past games.
